Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce students into the basic problems of changes of possition of Christianity in Europien culture in historical period since the end of 18th century till 20th century. Present Christianity in the context of industrial, social and scientifical revolution. Explore the relationship between Christianity and state and political movements and organisations in this period. Present the possition of Christianity and Christian ethic in the time of World wars and in the conditions of Cold war. Show to the students the condition of Christianity in present Europe.

The exam: Manifestation of knowledge of lectured themes.

Content
|
Lectured themes: Christianity in the context of industrial, social and scientifical revolution. The relationship between Christian churches and state and political movements (liberalism, conservatism, nationalism, socialism, anarchism). The conditions of Christianity during World wars (Russian revolution, nazism). Christianity in the time of Cold War. Christianity on the map of present Europe. Changes of Christian theology and philosophy. Christian ethics.
